We’ve recently had a little rain !  but its still got to be a good time to take a few days off work come to Dumfries and Galloway and relax for a while, to see whats coming up in the future, check out the “Visit Moffat” website   come along, stay with us, and join in !   If you like Acoustic folk and blues and play or sing (or just like to listen)  don’t  forget there are regular music sessions in the Town (usually Thursday and Friday plus some Saturday nights in some  of the High Street Hotels )  We have recently had some shops close in the town but these have been quickly been taken by new enterprises, High quality  ” Manse Furnishings” have moved into large new premises in the High Street,  In Well Street we now have a Pet supplies shop plus  other shops selling Antiques and re-production furniture and there are a number of new enterprises in the offing, happily the Historic Black Bull Pub has a new owner and renovation is underway Three of our most popular places to eat  ( Claudios Italian Rest. Brodies ( now with a dedicated Bar specialising in unusual Gins, try the Glasgow Makar with a slice of green chilli ! )  and The Buccleuch Arms Hotel ) have  recently undergone re-furbishment and are looking great ! Breaking News !!   Any fans of  rare Vinyl records and other collectable music  (especially from the 1980′s ) should know that  ” The Ramshack ” has opened in Well Street , owners Paul and Yvonne Barber are real experts of this era and have some ultra rare items for sale, ( try and catch Paul out with a ’80′s music question !)

 There are plenty of events happening over the next few months  For Railway Buffs there are moves afoot to re-open Beattock  Station and the  action group are working hard to achieve this and a major step forward has just been anounced, find out more at and local Musician ( and recent new Dad to twin Boys ! ) Aaron Jones and his family are putting on an evening of accoustic traditional music in support of the Station Action Group at Beattock Village Hall on Sunday 28th May, tickets are £8 each and available from The “Ramshack ” (see above) or on the door, it should be a great evening !

   This  years Classic Car Show was a great success,  excellent weather and some beautiful cars ( we even managed to tag on to the end of one of the road run “convoys” in our  Mk 1 Mazda mx5  over to St Marys Loch for a quick cuppa ) this   years show  will be the last weekend in  June and if you are into Classic vehicles is a must. We will keep you posted about other events and dates  as the year goes on, but one to consider is next years Moffat ” “Rammie”  ( early  April ) our Famous acoustic music event, there is a rumour that recently formed local  Ukulele group   may perform but they may still have their  ” L Plates ” on ! and while we are on the Ukulele theme this years Scottish Ukulele Festival is to be held in Dumfries ( just 20 miles from us ) over the weekend 9th -11th  June  and some world famous Uke players have been booked

We have  gained “Dark Sky Status” here in the town and this means the Town street lights have been changed from Sodium to Halogen downwards facing bulbs, so when you look skywards you can see the Stars (But only at night and when there are no clouds !! ) 

 Our  Rates are currently  £50 single occupancy  and  £70 double occupanc,    we have recently added some tasty extra items to our Breakfast menu which hope you will enjoy  and If you are planning to visit Moffat this year (and we hope you are)   its always a good idea to book your accommodation  directly with us in advance as we are always  busy during the Summer  months  !

   All our Guest Bedrooms are  en-suite, in addition we  have  WiFi access throughout the house which is available to guests . Our  automated on-line booking system is available and we hope you find it useful, if you prefer to speak to us and book in Person that’s fine and the contact numbers are  on our own  website, we always like to hear from our guests and you may have a question or need to ask for directions  and we also welcome small well behaved Pets ((Please contact us  directly for more Pet Room details ) we offer  quality packed lunches which are available pre-ordered for £5 per person and a if you are walking we have re-instated our kit transfer service. Over the coming months we are refubishing some Bedrooms to make sure they have a clean, modern look which we hope you will like.  we look forward to seeing you soon.



                          The Annual  National Gold Panning Event is taking place in our area in 2017 between 7th and 12th August and 

                         accommodation will be at a premium, if you expect to attend we would advise early booking, to insure fairness to all

                         we are taking bookings with a minimum stay of two nights during this period
