We’ve recently had a little rain !  but its still got to be a good time to take a few days off work come to Dumfries and Galloway and relax for a while, to see whats coming up in the future, check out the “Visit Moffat” website www.visitmoffat.co.uk   come along, stay with us, and join in !

If you like Acoustic folk and blues and play or sing (or just like to listen)  don’t  forget there are regular music sessions in the Town (usually Thursday and Friday plus some Saturday nights in some  of the High Street Hotels )

In Well Street we have a Pet supplies shop plus  other shops selling Antiques and re-production furniture and there are a number of new enterprises in the offing, happily the Historic Black Bull Pub has a new owner and has been refurbished. Three of our most popular places to eat ,Claudios Italian Restaurant, Brodies ( now with a dedicated Bar specialising in unusual Gins, try the Glasgow Makar with a slice of green chilli ! )  and The Buccleuch Arms Hotel  have  recently undergone re-furbishment and are looking great !

Breaking News !!   Any fans of  rare Vinyl records and other collectable music  (especially from the 1980’s ) should know that  ” The Ramshack ” has opened in Well Street , owners Paul and Yvonne Barber are real experts of this era and have some ultra rare items for sale, ( try and catch Paul out with a ’80’s music question !)

There are plenty of events happening over the next few months  For Railway Buffs there are moves afoot to re-open Beattock  Station and the  action group are working hard to achieve this and a major step forward has just been anounced, find out more at www.beattockstationactiongroup.org.uk

Last years Classic Car Show was a great success,  excellent weather and some beautiful cars, this   years show  will be the 23rd/24th of June and if you are into Classic vehicles is a must.

We will keep you posted about other events and dates  as the year goes on, but one to consider is this years Moffat ” “Rammy”  ( 6-8th April ) our Famous acoustic music event, there is a rumour that a recently formed local  Ukulele group   may perform but they may still have their  ” L Plates ” on ! and while we are on the Ukulele theme this years Scottish Ukulele Festival is to be held in Dumfries ( just 20 miles from us ) on 27-29th of April and some world famous Uke players have been booked.

We have  gained “Dark Sky Status” here in the town and this means the Town street lights have been changed from Sodium to Halogen downwards facing bulbs, so when you look skywards you can see the Stars (But only at night and when there are no clouds !! )
